COURSE AIM
This course is intended to give an introduction to some fields of mathematics that are important for applications.
CONTENTS
Calculus of several variables: Functions of several variables, partial derivatives, gradient, optimization problems, multiple integration, line integrals, Green«s theorem.
Differential equations: First-order differential equations, integrating factors, separable differential equations, second-order linear differential equations, homogeneous equations, nonhomogeneous equations, variation of parameters, Laplace transforms, systems of differential equations, partial differential equations, the heat equation, the wave equation.
Discrete mathematics: Number theory, functions, relations, algorithms, latin squares, graph theory.
Principles of mathematical analysis: Set theory, functions, the real numbers, limits of functions, continuity, uniform continuity, differentiation, the Riemann integral, sequences of functions, series of functions.
