TIMEPERIOD: Q1 LANGUAGE:Swedish EXAMINER PREREQUISITES Applicants must have completed the course PÄP061. COURSE AIM The aims of the course are that students acquire knowledge of - children's development of literacy and the relation between spoken and written language - the mathematical language and development of mathematical concepts - how to encourage children's and adolescent's linguistic development and understanding of mathematics in a positive way - how to create a good learning environment - current research in the field - teamwork The students are also to acquire an attitude and approach to children's learning that - result in a natural culture of reading and writing - make the learning of mathematics part of children's everyday lives - make the children's knowledge and experience the point of departure in the teaching CONTENTS - The concept of numbers, natural numbers and the four rules of arithmetic - Linguistic development; speak, read and write - Methodological aspects that serve to stimulate the development of literacy and mathematical thinking - Current research on reading and writing - Current mathematical-didactic research - Computer based programmes that support the acquisition of reading and mathematical skills - To work in a team - Conflict solving - Conversational methodology TEACHING The course will be characterized by problem based work procedures and integration of theory and practice.
