TIMEPERIOD: Q3 LANGUAGE:Swedish EXAMINER PREREQUISITES Applicants must have completed the course PÄN041. COURSE AIM The aims of the course are that the students acquire knowledge of - the axiomatic and deductive build-up of plane geometry - vectoral algebra - demonstration and logical argumentation - the historic development of geometry The students are also to gain insights into - the importance of using both practical and theoretical models of explanation when teaching geometry at compulsory school - the application value of vectoral algebra - advantages and disadvantages of using geometric models of explanation for understanding of fractions, percentage and algebra - differences between learning in a classroom situation and an everyday situation - the significance of language and pictures to definitions and understanding of concepts - problem solving and understanding of concepts at compulsory school CONTENTS Vectors, scalar product, lines and planes, graphs of the 2nd degree, selected propositions and evidence in Euclid's geometry. Construction by means of compasses and rulers. Depictions of uniformity, reflections, proportionality and scale. Derivation of areas and volumes by means of mathematical analysis. Models of explanation for areas and volumes at compulsory school. Patterns. Practical and laboratory aspects of school tuition. Problem solving and mathematical models at compulsory school. TEACHING Lectures, lessons and videoconferences. EXAMINATION Written examination, report, course assignment and seminars. COURSE GRADE SCALE: Fail, Pass. ITEMS/CREDITS | |
