TIMEPERIOD: Q2 LANGUAGE:Swedish EXAMINER PREREQUISITES General entrance requirements. COURSE AIM The aims of the course are that the students acquire elementary knowledge of - technology and the distinctive character of technology, both as a human activity and as a teaching subject - how technology is related to other fields of knowledge and to old and modern society - the role of technology in the course of history - a few technological fields appropriate for teaching at compulsory school level - identification of problems, practical problem solving, construction and evaluation - didactic methods and possibilities on basis of among other things gender, ethics, environment and global perspectives The students are also to - learn how to make conscious didactic choices on basis of national and local policy and procedure guidelines and requirements - gain familiarity with safety aspects of practical technology tuition. CONTENTS The identity of technology on basis of historic development and schools of thought on technology as a phenomenon, including its relationship to other fields of knowledge. Man, nature and society. Technological problem solving in fields such as mechanisms, construction and materials, electricity, communication, bridges and town planning, and energy. Komponent - system perspective. Theoretical and practical aspects are integrated and identification of problems, construction and evaluation is included. Technology as a teaching subject, and choice of didactic methods on basis of among other things gender, environment and ethical perspectives. TEACHING The course participants' own attempts, constructions and problem solving is combined with other types of teaching such as lectures, seminars, study of literature, discussions and field studies as part of the students' didactic development.
