TIMEPERIOD: Q1 LANGUAGE:Swedish EXAMINER PREREQUISITES Applicants must have completed the courses PÄN025, PÄN036 and PÄN045. COURSE AIM The aims of the course are that the students acquire knowledge of - illustration of occurrences and situations by means of diagrams and simple functions and their didactic relevance - a few derivations of areas and volumes by means of integral calculus and concrete models of explanation for different calculations of area and volume at compulsory school - the significance of mathematics to science, society and problem solving - different strategies for problem solving CONTENTS The fundamentals of integral and differential calculus as they combine with calculations of area and volume and problems of maximization and minimization. The use of the chain rule in problem solving that involves time. Polya's model of problem solving. Problem solving and learning according to constructivist theory. The binomial theorem, probability theory and theory of sets. TEACHING The teaching will be partly problem based and complemented by lectures, lessons and literature seminars. EXAMINATION Written and oral examination, individually and in groups. COURSE GRADE SCALE: Fail, Pass. ITEMS/CREDITS | |
