COURSE AIM
The aims of the course are that the students acquire
- a deeper understanding of ethical and philosophical discussions
- insights into deeper goals of environmental studies
- insight into fundamental concept and ideas of environmental studies
- ability to reflect on and critically study goals and means of environmental studies
- ability to reflect on their own and others views on nature and its significance to the individual, society and the environment

CONTENTS
The course treats environmental philosophy, environmental ethics and environmental studies from a holistic perspective. Reflecting and problem based work procedures are applied in group discussions and through the students' own reflections.

TEACHING
The teaching will be mainly based on discussions. The students are to write down their own reflections within the treated fields on basis of the discussions.

EXAMINATION
Evaluation of participation in discussions and written individual reflections.
COURSE GRADE SCALE: Fail, Pass.
