TIMEPERIOD: Q3-4 LANGUAGE:Swedish EXAMINER PREREQUISITES General entrance requirements. COURSE AIM The aims of the course are that students acquire knowledge of the processes, techniques and possibilities of the different materials of handicraft and of manual possibilities. They are to develop their own sense of form and expression in wood and supplementing materials. They are to acquire skills in and better understanding of practical know-how through own experience. CONTENTS The philosophy of work. The development and significance of practical handicraft. Woodwork as a theoretical subject and the dynamics in creative activity. Models versus own interpretation. Construction and function. Handling of tools and training of techniques. Knowledge and handling of materials. The significance of environment to creativity. Implementation of own ideas and thoughts into concrete, observable results. Realization, analysis and development. TEACHING A launch of manual know-how that is to be shaped in co-operation with the participants. The students' own experiences are important in the choice of content of individual studies. The course has the character of laboratory studies, with the emphasis on practical work. The practical aspects are complemented by lectures, study of literature and shorter written presentations, alternatively productions, which are to be handed in. The character of the field implies active participation in class. EXAMINATION Knowledge and skills will be evaluated through written and practical assignments, individually or in groups. The examination is part of the teaching. The individual exhibition by the end of the course - in which students are to present their own development as regards colour, form, practical skills and study of literature - will be evaluated.
