TIMEPERIOD: Q1 LANGUAGE:Swedish EXAMINER PREREQUISITES Applicants must have completed the courses KSP 046 and PÄP 044. COURSE AIM The aims of the course are that students acquire: - knowledge of concepts and manifestations of culture and develop awareness of their own values and attitudes - knowledge of the significance of cultural identity - knowledge of the significance of culture in personal development, individual experiences, socialization and human intercourse - knowledge of woodwork and textile craft as culture bearers in teaching and society - knowledge of the cultural variety in Swedish schools and of the situation of ethnic groups and minorities - elementary knowledge of second language learning and immigrant children's school situation CONTENTS The influence of popular culture/mass media and information technology on the lives and development of children and adolescents. Literature for children and adolescents. Leisure activities and their significance in promoting the socialization of children and adolescents. International as well as Swedish traditional dances and games. Historical overview, specialization, development and renewal of woodwork and textile craft as methods for integration of practical skills for greater self-confidence in future professional activities. Immigrant studies, bilingualism, Swedish as a second language. Swedish immigrant and refugee policy. Culture projects among children and adolescents in a multicultural society. The computer in society. Multimedia production. Review of software. TEACHING Lectures, lessons, seminars, group work and field studies.
