COURSE AIM
The aims of the course are that the students acquire knowledge of
- the social and cultural conditions of learning
- the mission of school in society from a historical, present and future perspective


CONTENTS
School and social progress
The organisation of school and its mission in society
Curriculum theory, curriculum analysis
History of education, the educational heritage of school, the development of compulsory school
The historical background and present social function of pre-school and day-centres for school-age children
Socialization and conditions of life and school/child care in a new age - cultural, international, class and gender perspectives


TEACHING
Interdisciplinary subject studies.


EXAMINATION
Varied forms of examination, individually and in groups.
