None except general.

COURSE AIM
- Through studies of interesting technical phenomena from different historical periods to create an understanding of how technical, economical, social and political changes work together.
- To arouse an interest in the technical skills of earlier societies and also to inspire further studies in the subject.
- To provide students with a basic understanding of how information- and communication technology and man interact.

CONTENTS
Item 1 History of Technology
- Introduction and method.
- Technical development during ancient and antique times.
- Technical development during medieval times.
- Technical development from the sixteenth century.
- Technical development outside of the european areas

Item 2 IT-Society
The course focuses on IT as a social phenomenon as well as its affects on society and politics. It discusses how people's conceptions of IT as well as their usage of IT affect our behaviour. The course focuses on various topics such as new media, IT-culture, cyberspace and e-democracy.
