PREREQUISITES


COURSE AIM
The aim of the course is to present the basic ideas of the Theory of Distributions, which are of particular importance for solving classes of important problems in Applied Mathematics and in Engineering Sciences.

CONTENTS
Testfunctions and distributions of slow growth (tempered distributions). The Heaviside function and Diracs deltafunction, Physical Intepretations, Differentiation of distributions. Convergence of distributions. Periodic distributions and Fourier series. Fourier Transforms. Convolutions of tempered distributions. Applications to ordinary differential Equations.
