PREREQUISITES
COURSE AIM
This course is the second around Virtual environments
- Year 1: Virtual environments I, 3.5 credits
- Year 2: Virtual environments II, 6.0 credits
- Year 3: Virtual environments III, 9.0 credits
The courses together forms an innovative virtual learning environment
for students and teachers during the whole programme.
The objective of the courses are
- to give competence to co-operatively build and technically realize
virtual environments
- to develop ability to use these environments for communication,
information exchange, learning and development during the programme
- to develop competence to test and evaluate new technology from
technical functionality, and aesthetic, pedagogic and communicative
perspectives
- to give basic knowledge in communication and learning and how these
processes function in different media
- to develop ability to create contacts, give presentations, supervise,
teach and communicate internally and externally
- to use the environment for own production and evaluation and
reflection around the own learning process
CONTENTS
- analysis of technology for virtual environments
- planning, building and use of virtual environments for documentation,
evaluation and learning also in own education. This is done individually
and in team.
- basic questions around learning in virtual environments -
communication, language, psychology
TEACHING
The course consists of lectures and workshops. In the lectures a range
of experts give their view of media technology. The workshops consists
of hands-on applications, which will partly connect to the lectures and
partly to areas agrees on by students and teachers.
EXAMINATION
The course is based on individual and group based learning processes.
Lectures and workshops requires presence and active participation. The
students build personal portfolios that serves as base for assessment.
The grades are approved or not approved.
