TIMEPERIOD: Quarter II LANGUAGE:Swedish EXAMINER Lewi Lindqvist Univ adj PREREQUISITES Recommended previous knowledge: Circuits Analysis Automatic Control COURSE AIM The purpose of course it is to give the students a survey over the area of DC-motors and steppingmotors as systemcomponents and give knowledge so they can understand information in specialist literature, catalogues, and data-sheets. After the course the students can make well-founded choice among different alternativ for example then to choice motors in controlequipment. specialist literature, catalogues, and data-sheets. After the course the students can make well-founded choice among different alternativ for example then to choice motors in controlequipment. CONTENTS Fundamentel theory: Magnetic flux - and flux density. Force on a conductor in a magnetic field. Electromotive force. DC-motors: Permanent-magnet DC- motors and brushless DC- motors. Transfer functions. Response to a step voltage. Damping. Electrical analogy for a motor with a load. Torsional resonance. Mechanical and electrical time constants. Power dissipation and efficiency. Intermittent operation. Thermal model and thermal analysis. Steppingmotors: Principles of variable reluctance -, permanent magnet - , hybrid - and linear stepping motors. Transfer functions. Response to a step voltage. Resonances and instabilities. Mechanical dampers. Drive system and circuitry: Transistors bridge circuits. Amplifiers. Motor drivers. Logic sequencer. Monolithic motor drivers. Microprocessor based motor drivers. Motor controls: Example of speed, positions torque control. TEACHING The teaching concist of lessons and laboratory lessons.
