MPB022 Virtual Verification of Toll and Dies for Sheet Metal Comp 6.0 ECTS credits | |
TIMEPERIOD: Q III LANGUAGE:English EXAMINER Roger Andersson Doktorand PREREQUISITES Basic knowledge of CAD/CAM and material science. COURSE AIM The aim of this course is to give students an understanding of modern methods used for the design of tools and dies for the manufacture of sheet metal components. After completion of the course, the student will have knowledge of classic theory of plastic and elastic deformation of sheet metal, key material properties and how these are measured, FEM simulation of sheet metal forming processes, tool design and optimisation and techniques for the experimental verification of component form including the use of vision based metrology systems. CONTENTS The course covers: á The evaluation of fracture criteria and other material data required as input to FEM simulation of sheet metal for tool design, á Issues associated with data transfer between CAD (design) system and the simulation software. á The rules of tool design for sheet metal forming. á The simulation methodology used when designing tools and dies for sheet metal components. á The experimental verification of surface strains and thinning and comparison with the simulation results using an optical metrology system. TEACHING To receive a passing grade for this course, students must actively participate in the lectures, laboratory work and make a project work.
