TIMEPERIOD: QI, QII, QIII, QIV LANGUAGE:English/Swedish EXAMINER Milan Veljkovic Univ lekt PREREQUISITES Knowledge of engineering methods for problem solving, and in particular the Finite Element Method, is required for the discussion of results obtained by commercial codes. COURSE AIM The aim of the course is to introduce students to Finite Element modelling of various structural problems and to proper interpretation of FE results. CONTENTS The course starts with basic introduction to geometry modelling or so called pre-processing. Later four areas of structural mechanics are dealt with: elastic static analysis, elastic dynamic analysis, non-linear analysis of steel and concrete structures. TEACHING One numerical example within each area will be presented. After each numerical example is explained the students will obtain a compulsory assignment with specific questions. Students can choose compulsory assignments from three areas of structural mechanics according to their interests. Assignments should be solved by groups consisting of two students. Assignments have to be approved before students get a project assignment. Project assignments has to be solved individually. EXAMINATION Judgement of assignments.
