PREREQUISITES
General entrance requirements and course admission requirements for nursery and infant teacher training.

COURSE AIM
The aims of the course are that students:
- acquire knowledge of the requirements that are attached to teaching in pre-school
- acquire knowledge of policy and procedure guidelines/requirements and international agreements
- develop a historical and social perspective of pre-school
- gain familiarity with the content and work procedures of pre-school
- acquire in-depth knowledge of child development age 0-6, particularly age 0-3


CONTENTS
- The history and development of pre-school
- Pre-school in the future
- Child care in the legislation for the social services; educational program for pre-school
- Curricula and international agreements
- Questions of responsibility and secrecy
- Local authority goals and guidelines for pre-school
- Child development age 0-6
- Content and work procedures of pre-school; observation and educational planning
- The work group and parental cooperation
- Children's home background
- Ethics in the profession of nursery and infant teaching


TEACHING
The course will be signified by integration of theory and practice. Students will do six weeks of teaching practice in pre-school and will be given an interdisciplinary assignment during this period.

EXAMINATION
Written and oral examination, individually and in group.
COURSE GRADE SCALE: Fail, Pass.
