General entrance requirements and completed teacher training.

COURSE AIM
The aims of the course are that students:
- acquire knowledge of scientific methodology and the experiment as a scientific
method from a didactic perspective
- acquire knowledge of methodology and didactics for teaching natural science, both in the classroom and outdoors
- learn how to connect teaching with everyday phenomena and the pupils' conceptual world
- acquire knowledge of the history of ideas of natural science and of scientific formation of models and concepts
- acquire knowledge of the goals, the methodology, and the effects of environmental teaching on society in a local, global and historical sense
- gain knowledge of the atomic theory as a model of explanation for chemical processes and physical phenomena
- acquire knowledge of the construction of matter and life at different levels of organisation and complexity
- gain knowledge of earth, our place in universe and the flow of energy through natural and technical systems
- acquire knowledge of the indestructibility, transformation, degradation, cycles and spread of matter from an environmental perspective
- develop practical skills in laboratory, investigating and outdoor working methods
- learn care and respect for nature and everything that has life, and take their stands on the ethical aspects of the application of modern technology
- gain familiarity with pupils' notions of scientific, technical and ecological processes
- develop ability to use computers and information technology in teaching
