PREREQUISITES
Teacher training for teaching in grade 1-7, equivalent older form of teacher training or recreation instructor training.

COURSE AIM
The aims of the course are that students acquire knowledge of:
- technology as a school subject according to the National Compulsory
School Curriculum for 1994 and its supplements, and learn how to work out local syllabuses
- everyday technology as a basis for technical teaching in comprehensive school
- acquire knowledge of a few technical fields suitable for technical teaching in comprehensive school
- varying methods in the didactics of technical teaching, and of boys' and girls' interest in science
- the technology of a pre-industrial society, and of manual methods
- local history of technology
- the technical development from a historical perspective - old and new technology
- how technology has influenced the development of society as well as our physical environment
- security aspects in practical technical teaching

CONTENTS
ITEM 1, 5 credits
The content and identity of technology as a school subject on basis of the policy and procedures guidelines/requirements for comprehensive school.
Analyses and approaches to everyday technology including technical applications in the home environment. Simple exercises in electricity. Safety regulations. Links between natural science and technology. Planning of technical items.
ITEM 2, 5 credits
Technology from a historical perspective and local history of technology. Tools, materials and tooling methods. A few applications from everyday life. Technology in the first years of comprehensive school. Development work.

TEACHING
Lectures, lessons, seminars and group work.

EXAMINATION
Written and oral examination, individually and in groups.
COURSE GRADE SCALE: Fail, Pass.
