TIMEPERIOD: Q3. LANGUAGE:Swedish EXAMINER Håkan Broström Univ adj PREREQUISITES Applicants must have completed the courses KSP046 and PÄP044. COURSE AIM The aims of the course are that students acquire in-depth knowledge of: - matter and the constituents of life at different levels of organization and complexity - the origin and conditions of life - the constituents and function of the cells - the genetic code, heredity and the genetic background to the processes of evolution - germs and viruses - biotechnics and genetic engineering - organic chemistry and biotechnics in everyday life and in society - a few essential aspects of mathematics in comprehensive school Students are also to develop in-depth understanding of: - the constituents and conditions of life for man and other organisms in an evolutionary perspective - scientific and mathematical didactics - goals for efforts and achievement in the syllabuses of comprehensive school, and in addition, to develop ability to analyze these from a historical perspective CONTENTS Organic chemistry, biochemistry chemistry and food chemistry. Cell biology, micro biology and genetics. The fundamentals of the theory of evolution. Preparations for teaching gardening as a school subject during the fifth term. Bird excursions (from the fifth term). Exercises in methodology and didactics. Algebra, equations and problem-solving. The effects of text books, teaching aids and diagnostic tests on the teaching of mathematics. Tests and setting of tests. Analysis of international research on knowledge TEACHING The teaching will be partly problem-based and will be supplemented with lectures, lessons, literature seminars, excursions and study visits.
