PREREQUISITES


COURSE AIM
The aim of the course is to present the basic ideas of the Theory of Distributions, which are of particular importance for solving classes of important problems in Applied Mathematics and in Engineering Sciences.

CONTENTS
Basic theory for generalized functions The Heaviside function and Dirac´s deltafunctions. Multiplication and differentiation of distributions. Convolution between, and limiting processes of, distributions.
Fourier series and Fourier transforms of distributions Periodic distributions and Fourier series. Fourier transforms of distributions. Calculation rules. Physical and Technical intepretations.
Applications Solutions of Differential Equa-tions. Green´s method. Linear systems.
