TIMEPERIOD: Quarter I LANGUAGE:English/Swedish EXAMINER H Thunehed Univ adj PREREQUISITES COURSE AIM The course will give an introduction into solid earth physics and basic knowledge about geophysical site investigation methods. CONTENTS Petrophysics, seismic wave propagation velocity, density, magnetic susceptibility, electric resistivity and permittivity, radioactive decay. Seismology, seismics, seismic wave types, reflection and refraction. The earth´s magnetic field, magnetometry. The gravity of the earth, the geoid, gravity measurements. Electric and electromagnetic methods, electric sounding and mapping, VLF, HLEM. Ground penetrating radar. Drillhole methods. TEACHING Lectures, practicals and field measurements. Practicals and field work are compulsary. EXAMINATION Written examination and approved practicals and field work. COURSE GRADE SCALE: U, 3, 4, 5 ITEMS/CREDITS | |
