PREREQUISITES
English for teachers A 1, 15 credits.
COURSE AIM
The aim of the course is to:
- improve the oral and written proficiency of the students
- provide knowledge about the main aspects of general and English grammar
- provide increased knowledge of British and American society and English literature and culture as well as an in-depth didactic/methodical familiarity with teaching English.
CONTENTS
Note: Modules that do not end with a written test are normally compulsory.
Module 1. Oral proficiency (1.5 credits).
Module 2. Cultural studies (1.5 credits).
Module 3. Grammar (3 credits).
Module 4. Written proficiency (1.5 credits).
Module 5. Literary studies (3 credits).
Module 6. Didactics/methodology (4.5 credits).
TEACHING
EXAMINATION
Module 1. Continuous assessment of pronunciation and oral fluency.
Written vocabulary test (1.5 credits).
Module 2. The students will be graded on project work including the oral presentations (1.5 credits).
Module 3. Written examination both general and English grammar
(3 credits).
Module 4. Essay (1.5 credits).
Module 5. Students and teacher will decide together the form of the examination (3 credits).
Module 6. Continuous assessment. Course assignments (4.5 credits).
Students who do not pass the tests will have the opportunity to take a resit. Absence from lessons where no tests are given may lead to supplementary assignments. All tests and modules will be graded as above. To receive Pass on the course the students are required to have Pass on all modules of the course.
