PREREQUISITES
General eligibility for course admission.

COURSE AIM
The aim of the course is to provide the students with:
- knowledge about their own bodies and their capacity for movement
- knowledge and experience of how this knowledge can be handed down
to children aged 0-12 years through movement, dances and games
- knowledge of how children/ young people's movement abilities can develop through movement, dances and games
- first hand experience of how a method of working built on their own initiative, reflections and creativeness can strengthen self-confidence and joy of movement individually and in groups.
- knowledge how to adapt theoretical and practical contents of the course when working with practical activities in a day nursery and in a children's recreation centre.

CONTENTS
Movement training and movement communication based on Laban's ideas.
We create our own dances that spring from our own abilities, but we also dance other traditional and international dances.
We play traditional Swedish games, as well as international and we create our own games within a given framework.
The theory part illustrates and elucidates what we work with practically and the connection to working with children groups is discussed continuously

TEACHING
The teaching is to provide support and structure to the students acquisition of the course contents, through training skills combined with discussions, reflections, seminars and working with their own assignments.
The practical part of the teaching, which consists of teacher supervised tuition and assignment reports, are compulsory.

EXAMINATION
The course is assessed continuously through an active participation in the teaching and of presentation of assignment reports. There will be an examination assignment where the students are to show both in practice and in writing that they have assimilated the course contents and can adapt and use them when working with children
