Eligibility for course admission to begin study as a Primary School Teacher
1-7.

COURSE AIM
To provide the students with theoretical and practical knowledge about language learning and language teaching.
The students should have an insight into and information about the goals and methods in teaching English as a foreign language.
Based on an established level of language skills improve students' language structures, vocabulary and English for teaching purposes.
Improving students communication skills.


CONTENTS
- what the curriculum and research say about language teaching and language learning.
- the contents, methods and ways of working when teaching English in primary and secondary schools.
- communicative competence.
- methods in language teaching.
- factors that will guide and influence when teaching English as a foreign language.
- how to teach English for beginners.
- how children needing special support can learn English.
- language learning for pupils with another native language.
- the English speaking heritage, inter-cultural understanding and social studies.
- the integration of English with other subjects.
- educational materials in English teaching.


TEACHING
The course includes lectures and general meetings with discussions about the course contents, combined with practical teaching examples and exercises. Seminars and group discussions around course literature and assignments. A native teacher should also be involved in teaching the course.

EXAMINATION
The students will be graded on assignments reports that are given within the framework for the aim and contents of the course. The course requires an active participation in lectures, seminars and group discussions.
