COURSE AIM
The aim of the course is to: ¥ give in-depth knowledge about children´s development and learning with its emphasis on the age period 5-7, ¥ to simplify and stimulate to an increased co-operation between pre-school, school and day-centre for school-age children, ¥ to give a preparedness before the work with children in school age.

CONTENTS
ITEM 1. Children´s development - children´s thoughts - metacognition. Control documents and different vocational roles. Educational traditions, different view of knowledge and of learning. To work in a work group. ITEM 2. Ethics in the everyday of education. Childrens play and creative activity and significance for children´s development and learning. Children´s language development. Acquisition of reading skills, writing skills and mathematical skills. ITEM 3. Work with development.

TEACHING
The form of the teaching is lectures, discussions, seminars, practical work - individual and in group - and a work with development.

EXAMINATION
The students will be graded on their written and oral examination, individual and in group.
COURSE GRADE SCALE: Fail, Pass.
