PREREQUISITES
General and course admission requirements for studies at the study programme for compulsory school teacher, grades 4-9.


COURSE AIM
The students should be able to systematical describe, explain and understand the educational practice - education and teaching - which exists and has existed in the community. The students should understand why and which values, knowledge and skills that arise, are preserved and changed within and between cultures, generations, group and individuals.


CONTENTS
The course deals with:
- children´s and young people´s development and learning in theory and practice,
- the conditions of learning for both girls and boys,
- pedagogical prominent figures,
- power and influent of pupils, parents and teachers,
- conversations that can lead to development, criteria of grades, grades and tests,
- the recreation instructor´s and the upper secondary school teacher´s control documents and basic function, vocational tradition and vocational qualifications,
- theories about work groups,
- to lead and develop a school unit.


TEACHING
Theory and practice are integrated in the course. The course is characterized by a problem-directed way of working. The form of the teaching is lectures, seminars and work in basic groups.


EXAMINATION
The students will be graded on their written and oral examination, as well as on practice, practice assignments and written practice report.

COURSE GRADE SCALE: Fail, Pass.
