PREREQUISITES
Applicants must have completed the courses PÄS020, PÄP037 AND PÄS021.

COURSE AIM
The aims of the course are that students acquire knowledge of:
- issues concerning nature that are related to the local, regional and global environment
- the growth of the local society based on the agrarian, technological and industrial development of the area
- local environmental problems and programs, including Agenda 21
- the local technological development and its place in a greater historical, technological context
Students are also to:
- learn how to develop routines for practical and theoretical work with children and adolescents that has to do with technical solutions in everyday life
- develop skills in using computers and information technology as educational tools
- acquire an ecological outlook, and understanding of scientific concepts and the interplay between man and nature


CONTENTS
History of technology with a local focus
Practical and experimental technology for children and adolescents
The computer as a tool in the professional role
Forms, use and production of energy from the viewpoint of society
Nature and the ecological systems
Minerals, ores and mining industry in the region
Environmental issues and sewage works
Chemical processes within companies
Agriculture, forestry and aspects of nature and society
Didactic and methodical questions in nature and environmental studies
Teaching practice and introduction to degree project


TEACHING
Lectures, lessons, group work, excursions and study visits.

EXAMINATION
Written and oral examination, individually and in group.
COURSE GRADE SCALE: Fail, Pass.
