Computer Networks SMD088 and Processor/Software Interface SMD082.
COURSE AIM
The course will give an introduction to current research on network architectures for data- and telecommunications. The students will practice their ability to read articles, write summaries and perform oral presentations.
CONTENTS
The following topics are covered:
- Fiber Optics (essentials)
- Cell Networking, ATM
- Packet Networking, IPv6
- Operating Systems Issues
- Application Demands
- Traffic Shaping
- Service Commitments
- Flow Setup and Routing
- Distributed Systems (essentials)
Several research articles will be studied. The suggested ideas and solutions will be related to the current development of the Internet and the different transport networks.
TEACHING
Lectures, presentations and compulsory assignments.
EXAMINATION
Oral presentation and written assignments. Presence at lectures is compulsory.
