PREREQUISITES
COURSE AIM
The aims are:
- To give the student a deeper knowledge about physical, chemical and biological processes for water and wastewater treatment.
- To give the student a knowledge about processes for sludge treatment.
The interest will be focused on treatment plants for more than 500 pe.
CONTENTS
Lessons.
Water treatment: Filtration, Aeration, Coagulation processes, Sedimentation and Flotation, Ion Exchange and Inorganic Adsorption, Chemical precipitation, Chemical oxidation, Disinfection.
Wastewater treatment: Wastewater Characteristics, Screening, Sedimentation, Flotation, Chemical Precipitation, Biological treatment processes (including biological nutrient removal).
Laboratory lessons: Aeration, chemical precipitation, sedimentation.
Study visit: The wastewater treatment plant in Boden.
TEACHING
The course includes lessons, calculation tasks, construction tasks, laboratory lessons and a study visit. Passed laboratory lessons and construction tasks are mandatory.
EXAMINATION
Written examination with two parts: theory and calculation.
