COURSE AIM
To give the students fundamental knowledge in biology with particular emphasize on evolutionary ecology, structure and function of natural ecosytems and exercise in ecological thinking and methodology.

CONTENTS
Biology as a science. Fundamental knowledge in systematics, morphology, taxonomy, physiology, genetics, evolution. General ecology; methods; aut-, population-, community- and ecosystem ecology. Field course. One week of field studies of the most common ecosystems in the northern parts of Sweden.
