COURSE AIM
The aim of the course is to develop knowledge and proficiencies further within the area of the Montessori education so that the course participants can apply the method, in their own work among children in the ages 7-9 and 9-12 respectively, in an independent and a constructive way.

CONTENTS
Further studies of Maria Montessori«s research and view of children«s learning and development as well as comparisons with other teachers and modern research. Montessori teaching methods for the ages 7-9 and 9-12 respectively. The teaching is during the course placed in relation to the future vocational role. Laboratory work with Montessori materials. Manufacturing of Montessori materials. Observations in Montessori activity related to the different contents of the modules. Item 1. Language Grammar, analysis, learning by reading. Item 2. Mathematics Factors, multiples, fractions, area. Item 3. Culture Biology, History, Geography, Practical Science.

TEACHING
The course is based on a correspondence/distance course which comprises 4 modules, where the students are tutored by corresponence, by tutors from Montessori Education Centre, Dublin. Lectures and literature are in English. 4 meetings of 4 days - lectures, workshops, 3 meetings of two days - laboratory work with materials and 2 days of examination are carried out at the University of Luleå.

EXAMINATION
Written and oral practical examination, passed observations and teaching materials and satisfactory replys on the letters. The University of Luleå will issue university course certificates. International university course certificates The students, with a passed university course certificate, has the right to get an international university course certificate from Montessori Education Centre, with the name "University diplome in Montessori Education with Special regard to the Primary/elementary age".
COURSE GRADE SCALE: Fail, Pass.
