PREREQUISITES
General and course admission requirements for studies at the study programme for children«s nurse.
COURSE AIM
The aim of the course is to give the students specialized knowledge about children«s development and childhood from a sociological perspective, staff co-operation within the child care as well as an introduction to a scientific way of working.
CONTENTS
ITEM 1. Social Psychology
Team processes.
Communication.
Dealing with conflicts.
Psycho-Social Work Environment.
ITEM 2. Children«s Development and Childhood
Children«s development and socialization.
Children who are treated badly.
Observations of children.
ITEM 3. Scientific Way of Working
Basic research methods.
Application of research methods through project work in groups.
Are started in item 2 and should be assessed in seminar at the end of the course.
TEACHING
The pace of the studies is delayed. The teaching is located in Luleå. The course has three meetings monday-tuesday.The content of the meetings is lectures, lessons, group practice and assignment reports.Two course meetings will be telecased aired through videoconference.The teaching is based on the course participants«previous experiences. The teaching should be characterized of varying teaching methods which stimulate co-operation, communication and understanding of the student«s own behaviour, which giv e an increased security and confidence in the work.
EXAMINATION
The examinationwill be both written and oral, individual and in groups.The course is completed with an oral and written assessment of the applied assignment in item 3.
COURSE GRADE SCALE: Fail, Pass.
