COURSE AIM
The course gives knowledge about children with special needs for their development as well as how the work should be worked out to meet these needs in the children and their families.
The students should work on their own attidudes and values in relation to children with special needs for their development.
CONTENTS
The course deals with:
-who belong to the group of children with special needs for their development ,
-disability - heredity,
-factors that can influent the family situation for this group of children,
-the legislation for the children and their families,
-the interest organization who represent them,
-the ethical issue concerning this group of children,
-integration and working methods,
-significance of health for quality of life,
-influence of environment on the man as a whole,
-HIV/Aids.
TEACHING
Learning by discovery is applied in the course. A project work is carried out as a specialization. Expert co-operation and educational visit are parts of the course.
EXAMINATION
The students will be graded on course assignments, course literature, literature seminars and project work as well as on teaching practice, practice assignments and practice report. Laboratory items are assessed by active participation.
COURSE GRADE SCALE: Fail, Pass.
