COURSE AIM
Students should have knowledge about: -the concept handicap and different typs of disadilities, -study of ageing and care for the elderly, -social problems and psychological problems and diseases, -different typs of supplementary measures and methods for education and stimulation, -integration and special institutions , -the legislation for people with disabilities and their families, -disability organizations, -significance of creative activities for people with disabilities. The students should be able to: -see the needs in people who need special support and meet these needs, -use creative activities as stimulation.

CONTENTS
The studemts should have knowledge about: -different typs of physical, psychological, social and emotional disabilities as well as different typs of supplementary measures, -what kind of requirements placed on the recreation activities, -how to apply a way of working that meet the needs in children, young people, adults and older people with need of special support. The students should work on their own attidudes and values in relation to people who need special support for their development.

TEACHING
Expert co-operation, educational visit and field studies are combined with theoretical studies and special practice.

EXAMINATION
The students will be graded on course assignements, group works, literature seminars, teaching practice, practice assignments as well as on practice report.
COURSE GRADE SCALE: Fail, Pass.
