EXAMINER
Per Arve Univ lekt

PREREQUISITES
Modern physics, vector calculus and series, complex functions and the theory of transformations.

COURSE AIM
The goal of the course is to give knowledge of - basic methods for the calculation of quantum states - the quantum physics description of matter - statistical description of atomic and molecular thermal motion

CONTENTS
In this course, quantum physics is presented by using simple physical situations. The general structure of the mathematical solutions and methods are studied, as well as applications in nuclear physics, atomic physics, molecular physics, and solid state physics. Additionally, in the course is the influence of temperature treated with an emphasis on the Boltzmann factor, which gives relative probabilities for thermal excitations.

TEACHING
Teaching comprises of class lectures and laboratory exercises.

EXAMINATION
Written examination at the end of the course.
COURSE GRADE SCALE: 3, 4, 5
