TIMEPERIOD: Q IV
LANGUAGE: English/Swedish
EXAMINER
Bertil Pålsson Fo ass
PREREQUISITES
Matrix algebra, Basic university level knowledge of chemistry.
COURSE AIM
The goal of the course is to develop skills in experimental design and optimization, and
multivariate data analysis with applications in industrial processes.
CONTENTS
The course will cover methods of how to extract information from chemical process data. Areas
taught will be experimental design (factorial designs, fractional factorial designs) response
surface models and also cases where experimental designs are not directly applicable. Further,
multivariate data analysis techniques will be covered. Methods covered will be principal
components analysis (PCA), principal components regression (PCR) and partial-least-squares
regression (PLS). Real process data will be analyzed during the course.
TEACHING
Lectures, compulsory laboratory classes and an assignment.
EXAMINATION
Approved laboratory reports and a written exam with differentiated grades. Correction of exams
will be made according to "Alternative B" in "Rules of Examination".
COURSE GRADE SCALE: U,3,4,5
