COURSE AIM
The course is designed to give the student understanding and basic knowledge of
-the elements and their most important compounds, with respect to occurrence and properties
-inorganic crystallography and the most common type structures
-coordination compounds, their names and structure
-the crystal field theory, properties of complexes
CONTENTS
Descriptive inorganic chemistry with reference to the periodic table. Solid state chemistry. Crystal structures, crystal systems, close packing and common structure types. Coordination chemistry. Crystal field theory. Magnetic properties.
TEACHING
The education consists of lectures, projectwork and laboratory exercises. The laboratory exercises and the project work are compulsory.
EXAMINATION
Approved laboratory reports and projectwork and an approved written examination with differentiated grades.
