EXAMINER
B Lindblom 1 fo ing

PREREQUISITES
10 points in mathematics and KMK013 or a corresponding course.

COURSE AIM
The goal of the course is that the student, after completion of the course, should - be able to use state functions in chemical calculations - be well aquainted with the concepts: activity and partial molar quatities. - be able to construct and interpret phase diagrams - be able to apply thermodynamics to electrochemical equilibria

CONTENTS
The course covers chemical thermodynamics including electochemical equilibria. The following concepts are included: ideal- and non-ideal gases, thermodynamical state functions, maximum work, activity, partial molar quantities, colligative properties, phase diagrams, and electrochemical equilibria. The theory is applies during calculation- and laboratory exercises.

TEACHING
The course is presented in the form of lectures and laboratory excercises. The laboratory excercises are compulsory.

EXAMINATION
Approved laboratory reports and an approved written examination with differentiated grades.
COURSE GRADE SCALE: U,3,4,5
