COURSE AIM
- To inform the student about diffenrent outlooks and perspectives in the subject History of Technology and to awaken an interest in ancien technic and also to inspire further studies in the subject.
- To give an understanding of methods and theories that exercise influence on historic research.
- To give an understanding about the basics in technohistorical development.
- By studying interesting occurences, from different periods of our history.
- To create an understanding for the interplay between technical, economical, social and political changes.
CONTENTS
Course A: Method and Theory
- This course informs the student about how our view of history changes during different periods of time. Further the course gives an introduction to scientific methods and realization.
Course B: Techniohistoric summary dealing with a time period from ca 3000 bc to the beginning of the twentieth century
- This course starts by dealing firstly with ancient time, greek and roman times, medival times, 1500 - 1600, the industrial revolutions break through as well as developments during the ninetenth and the beginning of the twentieth century. Concerning the latter part of the course, one or a couple of themes will be followed.
Course CI: Advanced Coures A
- Seminars in chosen techniohistoric exercises. Under the duration of the course an eventual excursion can be possible. Also, specific themes of the course will be treated.
Course CII: Advanced Course B
- The course starts with a discussion about compostion writing. The main part of the course is composed of a chosen advanced exercise which will be presented both oraly and in writing.
