COURSE AIM
To give students a basic knowledge about the Swedish political and social system and the current political issues in Swedish politics.

CONTENTS
The history of Sweden and Norrbotten in brief. The economic development in Sweden since the end of World War II. The constitutional framework. The central political institutions. Local government. The public sector and the welfare system. The Swedish foreign policy during the last decades.

TEACHING
Teaching will take the form of lectures and seminars. The seminars are compulsory.

EXAMINATION
Written examination at the end of the course. In addition to a passed written examination, presence at seminars are required. Students who do not pass the ordinary exam, will have at least one additional opportunity to retake the exam during the academic year. The grades are fail, and pass.
