COURSE AIM
The aim of the course is to give the student - a broad framework to understand the role of information and information systems in organisations - a special attention to the management of modern social systems

CONTENTS
The studies are following two guidelines. One is describing organisations and information from a cybernetic point of view. The other one describes information for management. Cybernetic view of organisations and information - operational systems - coordinator systems - management functions - planning and design - top management Management information - multimodal view of information - reductionism - multimodal view of organisation - information and organisation stability - dis-information - organisational learning and information - information filters - interdependence and uncertainty - foundations of systems design

TEACHING
Teaching will take the form of lectures, tutorials and laboratory work

EXAMINATION
Examination will take the form of written exam and tutorial papers. Grades awarded: Fail, Pass and Pass with Distinction
