COURSE AIM
Gain a theoretical understanding of the fundamental concepts of systems science as represented by its major schools of thought;
apply the above theories to social systems and understand the interaction between information, manage-
ment and organisations including the normative issues arising out of it.
CONTENTS
History of systems science
Main theoretical pre-suppositions of systems science
Conceptual inventory drawn from the diverse schools of systems science
Information systems and systems science:
Types of information
Social systems and information
Dis-information
Learning and regulation
Information filters
Social interdependence and information
Computer models of information, managerial decision making and organisational behaviour.
TEACHING
Teaching will take the form of lectures, tutorials and computer laboratory sessions.
EXAMINATION
Papers, presentations and final examination.
Grades awarded: Fail, Pass och Pass with Distinction.
