CHEMICAL ENVIRONMENT TECHNOLOGY, 1p Threshold limit values, legislation. Medical, technical and other causes that form the basis for threshold limit values. Chemical substances in the working environment. Occurrence, generation, propagation and properties of chemical substances. Exposure, uptake, metabolism, distribution, secretion, impact, solubility in body fluids, reactivity etc. Risk assessment of industrial processes and management of chemical substances at workplaces. Elimination technology. The process and the production (raw materials, technology, planning). Ventilation - design and lay-out of industrial ventilation. General and process ventilation. Personal protection.

TEACHING
Mainly lecturing and compulsory experiments. The visual ergonomics part includes a mini project in a real work place and a demonstration of light sources. Lectures are mainly about theory and real-life applications. In the noise and acoustics part, some numerical examples are also given. The experiments and the mini projects are designed in order to illustrate the theoretical parts. The project is carried out as a group work resulting in a written report and an oral presentation.

EXAMINATION
The subparts of the course, Noise Control and Vibration, Visual Ergonomics and Radiation, and Chemical Environment Technology, are examined separately. Written examination at the end of the course. Written project report with oral presentation. Written experiment reports.
COURSE GRADE SCALE: Fail, 3, 4, 5
