COURSE AIM
The aim of the course is to give the students a basic knowledge of matters related to industrial ergonomics.
CONTENTS
Legislation, agreements, and delegation of responsibility: Introduction to the Occupational Safety and Health Act. Agreements within the field of industrial ergonomics. Internal control and system supervision.
Systematic environmental work: Systematic work change,. Designing a workplace programme.
Safety, risks and accidents: Strategies and methods of safety, analysis of accidents.
Economy of work environment: Costs and incomes in relation to the work environment.
Vision and lighting: The human eye and visual responses to light, methods for measuring and planning lighting.
Work physiology and workplace design: Basic work physiology, work related injuries. Methods for finding and eliminating adverse health effects of working postures. Basic techniques for work place design.
Adverse health effects of chemicals and elimination techniques: Uptake and effects of chemicals on human. Elimination techniques, especially ventilation.
Noise and vibration: The human hearing. Measurement techniques for identifying risks for impaired hearing and for reducing noise. Building acoustics. Effects of vibrations. Sources of vibrations.
TEACHING
Lectures, seminars, and compulsory laboratory work.
EXAMINATION
Written examination and approved laboratory reports. Correction of examination according to alternative A in ÒRegler för tentamenÓ. Course grades as above.
