COURSE AIM
Course provides the fundamental knowledge concerning theory and practice of maintenance engineering using condition monitoring, reliability and risk analysis techniques for systems and machines.
CONTENTS
Maintenance engineering (50%): Introduction, cost of downtime, basic tools for analysing Maintenance problems, maintenance strategies, condition based maintenance, total productive maintenance, reliability centered maintenance, LCC/LCP, total quality circle, expert systems, material administrations and inventory control, maintenance organisation, human factors etc.
Reliability engineering (35%): Introduction and basic knowledge about reliability & maintainability characteristics of a system, reliability analysis of components and systems with analytical and graphical methods, bottleneck and risk analysis techniques for process and construction industries.
Maintenance strategies for systems/machines (15%): Introduction and basic concepts concerning development of maintenance strategies for different branches (V, S & K).
Automation and robotization: Introduction and industrial applications of automation and robotization potential and associated problems, navigation techniques, etc.
Maintenance engineering: Introduction, costs of downtime, basic tools for analysing maintenance problems, maintenance strategies, condition based maintenance, total productive maintenance, reliability centered maintenance, LCC/LCP, total quality circle, expert systems, material administrations and inventory control, maintenance organisation, human factors etc.

Maintenance strategies for systems/machines: Introduction and basic concepts concerning development of maintenance strategies under varying conditions.
TEACHING
The teaching will essentially include classroom lectures, home work, computer laboratory and a small project work.
EXAMINATION
Written test with grades points/marks.
