PREREQUISITES
ABB007 Matrix algebra Basic knowledge of MATLAB Basic knowledge of strength of materials and structural mechanics, displacement method and energy principles.

COURSE AIM
To give students ability of formulate, analyze and solve structural engineering problems numerically. To give detailed knowledge of stress-, deformation- and stability-analyzis for plane trusses and frames with modern computer methods.

CONTENTS
Element analysis for bars and beams with boundary conditions and loads. System analysis, assembly and solution of linear system of equations. Stability analysis and influence of axial force in frame analysis. Assigment: A frame program under MATLAB is developed. Laborations: A number of exercises using MATLAB.

TEACHING
The teaching consists of lectures, exercises and assignments. Assignments are compulsory.

EXAMINATION
Written examination at the end of the course. Computer examination and the end of the course. Assignments.
