COURSE AIM
The aims of the course is to give the students such knowledge of the means of expression, handicraft and aesthetics of art, woodwork and textile craft that they, in their professional activities, can use and develop these fields and also make use of them in educational activities.

CONTENTS
The significance of design and colour to function and look. Practical work with suitable tools in different materials and a variety of techniques in the field of art, woodwork and textile craft. Handicraft in different cultures.
- Art: with an emphasis on design and colour: modelling, sculpture, ceramics,
painting, drawing and printing.
- Woodwork and textile craft: woodwork for children and for adults, material and tool
studies, wood-carving, tapestry/appliqué
- Thematic work: combining application of the different aspects of art, woodwork and
textile craft

TEACHING
The course is characterized by creative and process orientated methods of work. Theoretical aspects are integrated with practical work. The students will have a choice of orientation of their own work. The thematic work is to be carried out independently without tuition.

EXAMINATION
Presentations of thematic work and course literature will be evaluated.
COURSE GRADE SCALE: Fail, Pass.
