TIMEPERIOD: Q 3 LANGUAGE:Swedish EXAMINER PREREQUISITES General entrance requirements. Applicants must also have completed the first general field of education (20 credits). COURSE AIM The aims of the course are that students acquire in-depth knowledge of - work procedures and designs of work - the significance of conversation to conceptualisation in mathematics - problem solving in mathematics - geometric forms - how laboratory work procedures can stimulate conceptualisation in mathematics - the significance of units - the fields of application of the calculator - pupils with difficulties in mathematics (for the orientation towards Swedish/mathematics of the first school years) CONTENTS Problem solving. Strategies for problem solving and schedules of thought. Joint problem solving. Knowledge of procedure and concepts. Representations and forms of expression. Work with geometric forms and concrete material. Numbers and apprehension of numbers. Cardinal and ordinal numbers. The four rules of arithmetic. Numeral patterns. Outdoor mathematics. Pre-algebra. Algorithms. Decimal transitions. Mental arithmetic. The position system. The calculator as inspiration, aid and support. The psychology of learning mathematics (for the orientation towards Swedish/mathematics of the first school years) TEACHING Lessons and group practice.
