TIMEPERIOD: Q 2 and 4 LANGUAGE:Swedish EXAMINER PREREQUISITES General entrance requirements. COURSE AIM The aims of the course are that the students acquire knowledge of - the complexity of nature and the conditions of a sustainable development - how the conception of the world and outlook on nature influence people's way of thinking and acting and the development of society - how knowledge and skills can be concrete tools in creating faith and hope in the future - the role of learning, the responsibility of school and the individual for an ecologically sustainable development CONTENTS The course will have an interdisciplinary approach combining the perspectives of science and social science. Basic ecological principles. Cycles and flows in nature and society. The energy balance of the earth. Food supply. The population problem. Biological diversity. Outlooks on nature in different ages and societies. The policy and procedure guidelines and requirements for environmental work globally, nationally and locally. TEACHING Lectures, literature seminars and practical work. Some aspects of the course will be carried out outdoors. EXAMINATION Individual examination.
