COURSE AIM
AIM OF COURSE
- To give a general picture of earlier aspirations towards an integration of Europe.
- To give an understanding of the European Unions background and organization as well as political, judical and economical conditions in todays Europe.


CONTENTS
CONTENTS
Course A:
- A summary of Europes history before 1945 with emphasis on the efforts towards integration.
- Swedens relationship to Europe in a historical perspective.
Course B:
- The creation of the EU and other European institutions.
- The EU:s organization structure and decision making apparatus.
- Political development both within and outside the European Union.
- Supranationality and EU law.
- Economic development and trade relations with the rest of the world.
- The Europe of the future.
- Swedens path to EU membership as well as the impact the membership has had on different aspects of society life.

EXAMINATION
Assignments, written and oral exams and seminars.
Grading system: Fail, Pass or Honours.
